Spirit Bottles
A growing collection of pixel art bottles for the spirits I find interesting — a love letter to mixology, one label at a time.
What it is
An ongoing series of pixel art portraits of bottles — gins, amari, mezcals, the occasional weird liqueur. Each one is studied from photographs and drawn at small enough scale that the label has to be reduced to its essential silhouette.
Why
Mixology is a real hobby of mine — I’ve been mixing cocktails for friends for a couple of years and posting the results on Instagram. Drawing the bottles is a way to study them, the same way still-life painters draw fruit they like to eat.
Constraints
Every bottle is rendered at the same canvas size and uses a shared palette of about 32 colors. The constraint is part of the fun: you start to see how brand identities compress, and which bottles really do live or die by their silhouette.
